The work of Hybrid Pedagogy requires the combined efforts of a team of reviewers, editors, proofreaders, and media specialists to manage, publish, and publicize the work of our authors. This journal provides an opportunity to work with a diverse, distributed team on a variety of digital platforms, gaining experience in digital publishing workflows and in team collaboration. The following positions are available:

Production Editor

Exclusively for students at Kean University in New Jersey, USA

This for-credit, unpaid internship gives you foundational experience with online publication platforms (esp. Ghost), social-media campaigns (esp. via Twitter), collaboration platforms (esp. Slack), and a team of international authors and reviewers. You’ll help maintain the quality of articles published on the journal with a sharp eye for detailed proofreading. Additionally, you’ll help create social-media messaging for publications.

Timeline

This position is available every Spring and Fall semester. Interns should expect to work 3–6 hours per week. Time of day/week flexes to the needs of the publication calendar and your classes.

Applications for Spring 2022 are due Jan 7, with interviews held Jan 11–13.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with Managing Editor on written articles at the end of the publication workflow
  • Collaborate with authors on document revisions
  • Select highlights of articles to feature in promotion
  • Create social-media posts promoting articles
  • Provide timely, accurate, complete content delivery, published regularly to various platforms

Eligibility Criteria

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled at Kean Union, Skylands, or Ocean with 2nd-year standing (or higher)
  • Proficiency with review features of Google Docs
  • Strong writing skills with an ability to incorporate clarity, concision, and compassion
  • Familiarity with social media production

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Visual-design sensibility / basic graphic-design skills
  • Experience with web publishing (Ghost, WordPress, or other CMS) / basic knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • Interest in higher education / education major
  • Demonstrated experience in a professional collaboration environment
  • English/education degree-seeking

Audio Producer

Exclusively for students at Kean University in New Jersey, USA

This for-credit, unpaid internship gives you foundational experience with podcast distribution platforms (esp. Anchor), social-media campaigns (esp. via Twitter), and basic audio-editing software (such as GarageBand or Audacity). You will be responsible for the audio editing of interview-based podcast episodes with a sharp ear for sound quality. Additionally, you’ll help create social-media messaging for episodes as they are released.

This position is available every Spring and Fall semester. Interns should expect to work 3–6 hours per week. Time of day/week flexes to the needs of the publication calendar and your classes.

  • Work with Associate Director to compile episode content from pre-recorded interview/narration audio
  • Clean/proof episode transcripts to improve clarity and fidelity
  • Select highlights of episodes to feature in promotion
  • Create social-media posts promoting episodes
  • Provide timely, accurate, complete content delivery, published regularly to various platforms

Eligibility Criteria

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled at Kean Union, Skylands, or Ocean with 2nd-year standing (or higher)
  • Proficiency with review features of Google Docs and/or MS Word
  • Familiarity with basic audio-editing software such as Audacity
  • Familiarity with social media production

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Visual-design sensibility / basic graphic-design skills
  • Familiarity with podcasts as a platform / knowledge of the education-related podcast genre
  • Interest in higher education / education major
  • Experience with multi-track narrative audio editing / ability to preserve intonation in edited conversation
  • English, education, and/or communications degree-seeking
